Park Your Art 2016

I turned a pair of Miami flamingos into a repeating pattern for a public-art installation on a Wynwood parking pay station.

Event: Park Your Art 2016
Presented by: Miami Parking Authority & Beefree Media
Work: Illustration, pattern & public installation

Completed turquoise parking pay station covered in Silvia’s bright flamingo pattern in Wynwood

The project

A little piece of the street with a lot of Miami color.

I started with a small mirrored-flamingo drawing in hot pink, yellow, and black. By repeating and rotating it, I created a lively pattern that could wrap around the unusual shape of the pay station.

The turquoise base made the flamingos visible from down the block, while the hand-drawn pattern felt right at home with the color, murals, and energy of Wynwood.
